The Names Behind the Pieces

Every Pellington piece carries a name, and almost every one of them is an Arabic word chosen for what it means. Some are qualities we admire. Some are things in the natural world. A few are simply the number of bands in the ring. None of them are decoration.

This is the full list, so you know what you are wearing and what you are giving.

Why we name our pieces

A piece of jewellery you wear every day stops being an object fairly quickly. It becomes a habit, then a small part of how you see yourself. Giving each design a word worth keeping felt like a better idea than giving it a product code. It also means a gift can be chosen for its meaning as much as its look, which is why people so often pick a name before they pick a style.

Names are given in Modern Standard Arabic and shown here in both scripts, with the meaning alongside.

A note on the ones that are not Arabic

A handful of designs carry names from elsewhere. Kaveri takes its name from one of the East's most sacred rivers. Zareen means golden in Persian. Romana points to the Roman numerals cut into the band. Where a name has no meaning to explain, it is not listed above.

Choosing by meaning

If you are buying a gift and want the name to do some of the work, a few that people return to often: Nafla for a blessing, Yaqeen for certainty, Haneen for someone you miss, Hayyat for a new chapter, and Nour for light. Every order arrives in our signature packaging, so the name arrives with it.
