Three easy ways to measure
1. A ring you already wear
Take a ring that fits the finger you are buying for. Lay it on a ruler and measure straight across the inside of the circle, edge to edge. Match that number to the Across column. This is the fastest and most accurate method. It works for gifting too: quietly borrow a ring they wear on the right finger.
2. A strip of paper
Cut a thin strip of paper or use a piece of thread. Wrap it around the finger, snug but comfortable, and mark where it meets. Lay it flat against a ruler. That measurement in millimetres is the Around number. One caution: do not pull it tight. If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, measure both and pick a size between the two.
3. Our printable ring sizer
Print it at exactly 100% scale, never "fit to page". Check the bar on the sheet measures 5 cm, then place a ring you own over the circles until one matches its inside edge.

- Fingers are at their largest in the evening. Measure then, in a comfortably warm room.
- Your dominant hand runs slightly larger, and every finger is its own size. Measure the exact finger you are buying for.
- Index fingers run about a size larger than ring fingers. Pinkies run 1 to 2 sizes smaller.
- Measure twice and take the average.
- Between two sizes? Go up. A slightly loose ring is an easy fix. One that will not pass your knuckle is not.

About the Aswad Cabochon Signet Ring
The stone on the Aswad is a cabochon: an oval domed smooth and polished instead of cut into facets. It sits at the centre of a signet face that fans outward in fine vertical ribs, so the light breaks up on the gold and pools on the stone. The body is 18k PVD gold plated 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, and the whole piece reads as one shape rather than a setting holding a stone.
What a cabochon is, and why it is not faceted
Faceted stones are cut to throw light back at you in flashes. A cabochon does the opposite: the curved surface gathers light and holds it, which is why black stones are so often finished this way. It also means there are no sharp edges or corners to chip, and nothing to catch on knitwear. For a ring worn through a working day that is a real advantage.
Aswad, the black at its heart

Does a domed face change your ring size?
No. A raised face adds height above the finger, not width around it, so measure exactly as you would for a plain band. What does affect the fit is the width of the shank where it meets the signet head, which is broader than the back of the ring. Size to the base of the finger, take the larger of two sizes, and exchange unworn within 30 days. Sizes 6, 7 and 8.
Keeping a polished dome bright
A curved polished surface shows fingerprints faster than a textured one, so this is the piece in the range most improved by a wipe with a dry cloth. Water is not the issue: showering, swimming and sweating are all fine, and the plated layer holds its colour without tarnishing. Rinse after the sea and dry it.
