About the Corum Spiral Pearl Earrings
Corum coils gold into a spiral and studs the whole coil with pearls and crystals, so it is set on every visible surface rather than on a front face. Each measures 28.2 mm high and 24.2 mm wide. It fastens with a stud back, which is unusual for a piece with this much volume, and it is built in 18k PVD gold plated 316L surgical-grade stainless steel.
A spiral you read from the side
A flat earring is designed to be seen head on. A coiled one is not: it shows a different arrangement of pearl and crystal depending on where the viewer stands, and the profile view is the better one. That is why it works in conversation and photographs oddly, which is the opposite of most jewellery at this price.
28 mm of height on a stud back
Holding 28.2 mm of sculpture on a single post means the weight sits above the piercing rather than hanging below it, so the pair tips forward slightly through the day. Push the back on firmly and check it at lunchtime. At 13.9 grams for the pair they are lighter than they look.

Corum is not an Arabic name and carries no meaning we can honestly translate, so it is not listed on The Names Behind the Pieces. Most of the range is named for a quality; a handful, this one included, simply are not.

Spray perfume first and put these on afterwards, which is the one habit any pearl asks for. Beyond that they behave like everything else here: the gold is bonded to a steel core by vapour deposition rather than dipped, so it holds colour through showers and humidity without tarnishing. Rinse in fresh water after the sea rather than leaving salt to dry on the coil. Earrings cannot be returned or exchanged on hygiene grounds, so check the style first; a fault is a different matter and we replace it within 48 hours of delivery.
