About the Tulum Woven Chain Necklace
Tulum is a woven gold chain with a row of clear baguette zircon set into the centre front, so the stones sit inside the weave rather than hanging from it. It fastens on an adjustable collar-length chain, which puts it just above where a pendant would sit. The metal is 18k PVD gold plated 316L surgical-grade stainless steel.

Weaving spreads the load across many small joins, which is what makes this among the most robust constructions in the range. It also gives a flat, dense surface rather than a row of separate links, so setting stones into the front is possible at all: a cable chain has nowhere for a baguette to sit flush.
Where the name Tulum comes from
Tulum is not an Arabic name and does not appear on The Names Behind the Pieces. Most of the range is named for a word chosen deliberately for its meaning; a few, this one included, are not, and we say so rather than supplying one.
Layering a woven chain
A flat chain is the one to put in a layered stack, because flat links slide over round ones instead of catching in them. Wear Tulum closest to the throat at collar length and hang something finer below it, leaving at least 5 cm between the two so neither disappears into the other.

Collar length sits at the base of the neck, high enough to be seen over a crew neckline and low enough not to feel tight. On care, a woven chain holds more between its strands than a plain one, so a rinse under the tap does more than a cloth. Showering, sweating and swimming are all fine, and the gold is bonded to a steel core with no copper in it to react, so the colour holds without tarnishing. Rinse in fresh water after the sea.
