Pearl earrings and everyday pairs at Pellington
Fourteen pairs in 18k PVD gold plated 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, AED 79 to AED 199. Corum spirals a freshwater-look pearl into gold and Bow ties one into a ribbon, the two pearl earrings UAE shoppers ask for most. Beyond those, Emira and Raya are close-set crystal hoops, Rimal and Dana bring rope-twist and mesh texture, and Nafla, Opalia, Shamsa and Leen are the studs you leave in.
What is the difference between hoop and huggie earrings?
Size and how they sit. A hoop hangs from the lobe and swings; a huggie is a small, thick hoop that grips close, so it stays put under a phone or a pillow. Raya is a huggie, Emira and Dana are hoops, Rimal sits between the two. If you wear earrings to work and forget about them, huggies are the honest recommendation. If you want movement and light, a chunky hoop earrings waterproof enough for the gym does more.
Are these earrings suitable for sensitive ears?
The base is 316L stainless steel, the grade used for body jewellery and specified for surgical and marine use. It is chosen for how little it reacts with skin, considerably less than the brass that sits under most jewellery at this price, and it is free from lead and cadmium beneath a bonded PVD gold layer. That is a materials statement rather than a medical one: if you have a diagnosed metal allergy, message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will talk it through.
How heavy are they?
Light enough for a full day, which is the point of a steel core rather than a solid one. Studs like Opalia and Shamsa weigh next to nothing on the lobe. The sculptural pieces, Nar and Pernia, have more presence and are better suited to an evening than a twelve-hour shift. Weight is listed on the product page where we hold the measurement, and stud earrings for sensitive ears are the ones to start with if a heavier pair has bothered you before.
Can you shower in gold plated earrings?
Yes, and earrings tend to survive best of anything because they take the least friction. Everyday water is fine: showers, rain, sweat. Rinse and dry after the pool or the sea. Backs are the part that goes missing rather than the part that fails, so check them when you take a pair off. The 12-month warranty covers plating that lifts, discolouration and a post or setting that fails under normal wear.
Gifting earrings, and one thing to check first
For hygiene reasons earrings cannot be returned or exchanged, so please check the style and the piercing before ordering. That is the one category where our 30-day return does not apply, and we would rather say so here than in the small print. Each pair carries an Arabic name chosen for its meaning on The Names Behind the Pieces, arrives in the green box with a suede pouch, and pairs with a matching necklace. New to a placement? Types of ear piercings covers what suits where.
