Three easy ways to measure
1. A ring you already wear
Take a ring that fits the finger you are buying for. Lay it on a ruler and measure straight across the inside of the circle, edge to edge. Match that number to the Across column. This is the fastest and most accurate method. It works for gifting too: quietly borrow a ring they wear on the right finger.
2. A strip of paper
Cut a thin strip of paper or use a piece of thread. Wrap it around the finger, snug but comfortable, and mark where it meets. Lay it flat against a ruler. That measurement in millimetres is the Around number. One caution: do not pull it tight. If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, measure both and pick a size between the two.
3. Our printable ring sizer
Print it at exactly 100% scale, never "fit to page". Check the bar on the sheet measures 5 cm, then place a ring you own over the circles until one matches its inside edge.

- Fingers are at their largest in the evening. Measure then, in a comfortably warm room.
- Your dominant hand runs slightly larger, and every finger is its own size. Measure the exact finger you are buying for.
- Index fingers run about a size larger than ring fingers. Pinkies run 1 to 2 sizes smaller.
- Measure twice and take the average.
- Between two sizes? Go up. A slightly loose ring is an easy fix. One that will not pass your knuckle is not.

About the Rubaaiyah Four-band Ring
Four smooth loops circle the finger on the Rubaaiyah, held to each other by fine connectors rather than fused solid, with one slim row of small clear crystals threaded through them. The joins are what make it: the loops are tied together but not welded flat, so the piece has a little articulation and settles into the shape of the finger instead of sitting on top of it. Material is 18k PVD gold plated 316L surgical-grade stainless steel.
Four loops linked into one verse
The single pave row is doing a specific job. Four plain loops would read as a coil; one line of stones running through them gives the group a direction and tells the eye where the front is. It is the difference between a ring that looks assembled and one that looks designed.
Rubaaiyah, the quatrain
A rubaaiyah is a four-line verse, the form Omar Khayyam is best known for in English. Four lines, four bands. The name and the object are the same idea, and both are set out on The Names Behind the Pieces.
How linked bands spread across the finger
Because the four loops are joined but not solid, the ring covers a wide area while flexing slightly across it. That makes it more comfortable than a rigid band of the same width, and it means the usual advice to size up for a wide ring is less necessary here. Take your normal size. Movement, friction and where plating thins
Anything with moving parts wears at the points where they touch, so on this ring the connectors are the place to watch rather than the outer faces. Water plays no part in it: shower, swim and sweat freely, and the colour holds without tarnishing because the gold is vapour-bonded onto steel that carries nothing to react.
